I Wish I Were Heartless

They say those who are heartless, once cared too much
A sad story for sad people to pity and sigh
Yet I find myself wondering, what it would be like

Just once not to feel the pain in my chest
True we feel love and romance with our hearts
Passionate love all through the night
Yet Passion has another side

A foul side

A side of anger fear hatred and disgust
We turn that side on others if they push us to it
Or if we simply enjoy pushing others when pain brings us pleasure

Or we may turn that side on ourselves

When mistakes are amplified
And flaws can’t be unseen
Mirrors become our worst enemies
Apathy our best of friends

Caring can be a curse when spread thin
Advantages be taken with things left unsaid
To care so much that it can be broken with ease
The tiniest drop a bitter ripple runs wide

I wish I didn’t have a heart
To not feel the pain that outweighs the pleasure
Cast aside both good and bad
Stop the pain forever yet also cut the pleasure

To not have to be the image of happy
When to not even know such a word
Nor words of pain or hatred

Would that be so bad?
